Bosque del Cabo Rainforest Lodge: A photographer’s best gateway to Costa Rica’s wildest coast

By  |

Crowning a point above the spot where the Golfo Dulce meets the Pacific, Bosque del Cabo doesn’t just put you near the rainforest—it puts you on top of it, with ocean air in your lungs and wildlife in your frame, a perfect place to stay on a Costa Rica Photo Workshop.

Staying here isn’t about “checking a lodge off a list.” It’s about waking up already in the action, with abundant wildlife right outside of your cabana.

Bosque del Cabo teems with wildlife

Bosque del Cabo is a spectacular eco lodge at the tip of the Osa Peninsula. The best part about staying here is that it sits on its own private swath of rainforest, with abundant wildlife.

Each morning, the calls of howler monkeys will wake you in your cabana. Your photography starts on your veranda. On the resort grounds, you’ll find peccaries, coatis, agoutis, monkeys, toucans, macaws, currasows, and lots more. Our portfolios are full of images we have taken without ever leaving the resort grounds.

Accommodations designed for rest and inspiration

Bosque del Cabo has ten thatched-roof bungalows, privately set among lush gardens, with a veranda made for slowing down and listening to the rainforest. And this is where it really shines for photographers: ocean views, modern bathrooms, and outdoor garden showers—because nothing says “good day in the field” like rinsing off under the jungle canopy.

Culinary Delights in the Rainforest

Dinner here has the feeling of an old tradition: everyone gathers, stories come out, and the day’s best moments get re-lived—usually with someone saying, “I can’t believe you got that shot.”

It’s the kind of setting that naturally turns into a photo workshop classroom without trying.

Activities at Bosque del Cabo Beyond the Lens

The property is a large forest reserve with trails that lead through rainforest and down to beaches on both the Golfo Dulce and the Pacific—so even a “walk” can become a photo shoot.
