What I love about Akari Photo Tours is I’ve gotten to go on unique photo tours that aren’t something everyone offers. I had not travelled with Kevin before so did not know what to expect on my first trip. I was really pleasantly surprised with the amount of time and effort that he put into ensuring that each individuals requests/wants/needs were fulfilled each day. It was a real pleasure traveling and learning from him.

James and Mindy went above and beyond to accommodate our needs — and I mean every single day — bending over backwards to make sure we each got what we came for. I'm not a photographer by any stretch, while my wife is, so our needs were pretty different. Didn't matter — James and Mindy made sure we both had multiple opportunities to capture the moment, whether that meant thousands of iPhone shots for me and indelibly burning memories for me, or serious camera work for Rose. They read the room perfectly and adjusted for both of us (and the others on the tour) without missing a beat. Beyond the photography, the views were simply breathtaking — the kind that get burned into your permanent memory for life. There was something deeply satisfying about just sitting quietly and taking it all in. I have gone on many photography workshops, and this was my first time with Akari. I will definitely go on other Akari tours. Top notch instruction, top notch scouting prior to the start of the workshop to know the animals' behaviors, territories, and best places to photograph them. Very attentive in the field to students' needs, fun, kind, and respectful of the various levels of knowledge and skill of the students in the group. With 3 leaders and 7 students, the quality of instruction and attention to detail was remarkable. And it was fun, what could be better!
