Namibia Night Sky and Landscapes Photo Workshop

Day 1: Arrive in Windhoek

Arrive at Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH) before 4:00 PM on this day. Air travel delays are possible, so please consider arriving early, possibly the day prior. We don't want you to miss out on trip activities. Airport transfer is included on arrival.

You’ll have time to settle in, relax, or explore Windhoek at your own pace. Tonight, we’ll gather for a welcome dinner where you will meet fellow travelers and connect with your photo guides. We’ll review the itinerary, answer any questions, and prepare for an unforgettable adventure.

Day 2: Transfer to the Quiver Tree Forest

Our adventure begins as we travel south to Namibia’s iconic Quiver Tree Forest. Thousands of ancient, aloe-like quiver trees rise dramatically from the rocky landscape — a dreamlike location for photography, especially under the stars.

We’ll stay at the Quiver Tree Forest Camp for two nights. If the skies are clear, we’ll head out after dark for our first night of astrophotography. The silhouette of the quiver trees beneath the Milky Way makes for an otherworldly scene.

Day 3: Sunrise and stars among giants

We’ll be up early to catch sunrise filtering through the forest of quiver trees, their branching forms glowing in the golden light. After breakfast, you can rest, review images, or join an editing session.

Later in the afternoon, we’ll return to the forest for a magical sunset shoot. As dusk turns to night, we’ll set up for another round of astrophotography — capturing Milky Way arcs, star trails, and light-painted foregrounds against one of Namibia’s most mystical landscapes.

Day 4: Kolmanskop Ghost Town

After a final morning in Keetmanshoop, we journey west toward Kolmanskop — an abandoned diamond-mining town slowly being reclaimed by the desert. We’ll arrive in time to capture the sunset among sand-filled buildings and forgotten walls.

We’ll spend two nights in Lüderitz. If conditions allow, we may head out after dark for a bonus night shoot at a nearby abandoned railway station.

Day 5: Sand and shadows in Kolmanskop

We’ll return to Kolmanskop at sunrise to photograph the soft morning light as it floods through sand-filled hallways and broken windows — perfect for moody storytelling compositions.

The afternoon is yours to enjoy: relax at the hotel, explore the coastal town of Lüderitz, or photograph the unique colonial-era architecture. As the sun lowers, we’ll head back to Kolmanskop for another golden-hour session. Every abandoned room in this location tells a different story; no two photos are identical.

Day 6–7: Sossusvlei and Deadvlei

We head deep into the heart of the Namib Desert, arriving at our lodge — our base for the next two nights. Situated within the Namib-Naukluft National Park, it offers privileged early access to the legendary dunes and pans of Sossusvlei and Deadvlei.

Each morning, we’ll photograph the surreal skeleton trees of Deadvlei at dawn — eerie and elegant forms cast against a cracked white pan and glowing red dunes. We’ll enjoy these scenes with our early entry permits before the crowds arrive. In between shoots, we’ll explore the towering dunes of Sossusvlei, which are perfect for abstract compositions and wildlife tracking. Oryx silhouetted against sand ridges, a quintessential Namibian scene.

** Optional Excursion: a scenic helicopter flight over the world’s oldest desert, with aerial photography of sweeping dunes crashing into the Atlantic Ocean. Please ask us about this. **

Day 8: Walvis Bay & coastal dunes

We journey north to Walvis Bay, where Namibia’s desert meets the sea. This coastal gem is a haven for flamingos, pelicans, and sweeping views. A dune safari is included, taking you high into the shifting sands for a thrilling sunset shoot above the Atlantic Ocean — one of the most unique coastal landscapes you’ll ever photograph.

Day 9: Himba Tribe and Namibia’s Rock Cathedral

Today, we head towards the granite wonderland of Spitzkoppe under the new moon. Before we arrive, we’ll stop for a private photo session at one of the Himba villages.

We will arrive at our lodge, a secluded collection of chalets nestled among boulders with a swimming pool perfect for a midday break.

The afternoon light here is sublime, casting deep shadows and warm tones across the red rocks. After sunset, we’ll stay out to photograph under Namibia’s legendary night skies — capturing arches, boulders, and stars in epic compositions.

Day 10: Spitzkoppe & Return to Windhoek

Our final sunrise shoot at Spittzkoppe takes us back among the granite peaks to catch the first rays of light as they cascade over the boulders and spires. After breakfast, we’ll begin our return drive to Windhoek.

Once we’re back in the capital, we’ll check into our Windhoek hotel and gather again for a celebratory farewell dinner. We’ll share stories, swap favorite photos, and toast to a week of unforgettable memories.

Day 11: Departure
